好感恩遇上Sharon，自己茹素三年，陀第二胎時看電視某健康節目遇上素食營養師Sharon ,因為陀第一胎時自己不太懂得如何食素令BB更吸收，再加上食很多營養補充食品，有感於此，想試下從食物中去吸收多些營養。於是，嘗試在Facebook𥚃面尋找到Sharon，經檢查後發現原來自己食用的營養補充食品都不是很有效，身體上還是有缺乏。因為我從事美容行業，經常很忙和食無定時，Sharon很好，很細心了解我工作情況需要為我度身訂造一個很合適的餐單給我，我從懷孕4個月開始到坐月時都一直由她照顧。懷孕過程中很舒服，沒有嘔吐和抽筋，BB比預產期早了差不多一個月出世，最估不到重量竟然有5磅15安士，兩胎都是剖腹生產，上胎坐月時記性很差，身體容易累和較為水腫，面色一般，皮膚很乾燥和容易感冒。相比之下今胎身體各方面都比上一胎都好，原來吃對食物對身體上的改變會這麼大 Crystal. “I thought I was a pretty healthy eater already, simply going for a sort of “tune up” and a little education. I didn’t realize right away what was happening. We talked. I described what I ate, a few medications I take, and a little about my daily activities. I stood on a machine for a few seconds and got a fascinating body composition analysis. Sharon did a few “exam” things, gave me some good nutrition info and some interesting recipes. And she asked about the results of my last blood work. Somehow, I started talking about how I would really like to get off some of my medications, particularly the one I take for high cholesterol (in spite of my already-“healthy” eating). Together we talked through some ideas and agreed on a few things I would try to do over the next few weeks. No pressure. It would be fun.Gradually, I found myself paying more attention to the ingredients in what I was eating—not the calories, the colors! … and things like the good/bad kinds of fat. And I started to become more sensitive to things like the different amounts of sugar in different choices. It was simply making slightly better choices of the things I already like to eat. Again, no pressure. Choices. I spent a little more time shopping and reading labels. I started spending more time in the fruit and vegetable aisle (I love beets), and I started making some simple things at home. I started taking pictures of what I was making and eating, because it was like art. And I was beginning to learn from subtle differences in how I felt with different foods. It was becoming a more mindful approach to food.At Sharon’s suggestion, I went back to the doctor to get my blood retested, and I think we were all shocked at the results. My blood cholesterol had been cut in half after only a few weeks of this. It was now down so low that I had to get off the cholesterol medication.
In retrospect, I thought I had been eating healthy because I ate a lot of “healthy” things. At least they were marketed as healthy. And of course I discounted all the unhealthy things I was also eating. I felt pretty good too. But now I don’t have the same little peaks and valleys that I experienced before. I just had not noticed them. And my diet is more natural now. Through all of this (really only a few sessions) Sharon never told me what I had to do. It was her skill in observing, and in engaging, that drew all this out of me. And that is a rare skill in life. Obviously she has a real innate talent for doing this. But it’s also a skill that I see being nurtured at the Nature Care Center and MUIH. Sharon was meant for this program, and I’m sure the program has benefited immeasurably from her presence.
I’m deeply and forever grateful to Sharon and the Nature Care Center at Maryland University of Integrative Health for helping me find this path. I didn’t even know exactly what path I was looking for. And now I feel I’m just at the threshold of discovery here. Thank you.”
